A Life Lesson From I Kids Show

Sometimes I wonder why it seems that my four year old understands the meaning of getting along with others better then most adults. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that he knows every word to this song, All My Friends Are Different by Yo Gabba Gabba.
It could also be the fact that he is 4years old and hasn't been tainted by the worlds harsh criticism yet.  Non the less why can we live in a world where we teach our children to get along with others and understand that people are different, but yet not live it as adults. We sit in traffic and yell mean things at other people, we get aggravate at the barista at the coffee shop for taking to long with our order, we make fun of some girl for her top and pants not matching, we judge people for give their children soda or pop tarts ect.
I'm sure most of you can fill in the above sentence with more then one occurence where you have disliked someone for something they have done or been judge by someone for something you have done. I know it's part of the world we live in, but does that make it right? Just because it is they way it is has never made something right we have seen this through out history.
Maybe it's just me, but I kind of see a problem with this technique. Maybe the solution is to just send adults back to preschool so we can all have a nap time and snack time and that might encourage us all to be a little bit nicer to each other.

"If you want to lift yourself up, life up someone else." - Booker T. Washington Quote

The Things I See While Out and About August 29th, 2013

Like some of you I take pictures of things that I find interesting or amusing while I am out and about in the world with my camera phone. Unlike the rest of you normal people I don't have instagram anymore to share these photos. Why no instagram... well that's a story but instagram and I, we'll say had a relationship breakup. On my part I'm like the 'Michael Buble It's A Beautiful Day' song about it and I don't think that instagram even notices I'm gone :(
Anyway, my point is that I can share my awesome finds here, which by the way is A LOT more fun because, I can do fun things like attack music videos to my post so you can see all of what I am talking about in one post instead of flipping through a bunch of pictures.  So on to my current cool/interesting/amusing finds.

(Picture Date: 5/26/13 So this is a freezer full of TC's Local Homemade Ice Cream by Moomers. Which is pretty epic Ice Cream if you ask, well anyone who has been there. Which is a lot of people because, they have a map inside there shop that has pins for people who have visited from all over the world to try their ice cream. Why, I thought this was amusing/interesting because I found it in a random store outside of town and was like, "What they sell Moomers in pints? I never knew this!")

(Picture Date: 8/5/13 This is exactly what you think it is, a truck-bed trailer hitched to a truck!!! Saw this pulling out on to US-31. I was like, "OMG... only in Michigan!" Made me giggle non the less.)

(Picture Date: 8/8/13 Going to the Fair! Going to the Fair! Going to the North West Michigan Fair!!! Yup, totally saw this as we pulled into a parking space at the Fair and I was like, "That is so cute! And yet so really random." So I took a picture.)

(Picture Date: 8/8/13 So saw this as we were walking through the horse stables at the Fair and it made me giggle so I took a picture of it because it was kinda random to see in a horse stable.)

(Picture Date: 8/12/13 Yes, Yes the date on this does say August and yes, I found this when the temperature outside was 90degree so I thought this to be a little on the unusual side. But, the leaves are a very pretty fall red which was nice to see since the last two years I've been in California where we don't get fall colors we get brown.)

(Picture Date: 8/14/13 These are by far the most interesting La La Loopsie Dolls I have ever found. From Left to Right: The Halloween La La Loopsie Doll and The Alien La La Loopsie Doll. They are cute, but definitely the most interesting toys I've seen in a while especially since we didn't have these when I was growing up. It's kinda nice to see that the nerd/goth culture is coming into pop culture or maybe it's sad not sure which.)

(Picture Date: 8/17/13 At Target!!! I found these funky indie style slip-on's at Target!!! I was so surprised to find these and a little impressed to be honest.)

(Picture Date: 8/17/13 The Dollar Store Find!!! So these where in kinda a random spot in the DollarTree and I was intrigued by them and kinda appalled all at the same time. Good Job DollarTree I love being surprised by things.)

(Picture Date: 8/27/13 Troll in Drivers Windshield!!! I was just a bundle of "omg!!!" "that's fun and funky" and "that's kinda retro" so because it's interesting I took a picture.)

The Things I Want My Kids To Learn

(Ashton Kutchers speech for the Teen Choice Awards)

I loved/ love listening to this speech. As I listened all I could think was a) Wow I wish someone had given me this speech growing up. It might have made a difference and it might have given me that encouragement I needed to succeed at doing things in school. B) These are lessons that I want my son to learn.

"First of all I don't have a career without you guys."(Kutcher)  - - Appreciation it goes a long way in life.  You know the commercial, "Gratitude it goes a long way." That is so true! It's also such a character trait to teach your children.

"My name is not even Aston... There are some really amazing things I learned when I was Chris"(Kutcher) - - Honesty, it makes a difference. People listen to honesty.

#1 Opportunities look a lot like work
"I've never had a job in my life that I was better then"
"I was always just lucky to have a job and every job is a stepping stone to your next job."(Kutcher) - - What a great work ethic to have. We would probably worry less about money and jobs if we looked at them differently.

#2 Being Sexy
Sexy Looks like: "Being Really Smart, and Thoughtful and Generous. Everything else is crap that people try to sell to you." (Kutcher) - - Pretty much that sums it up everything else is crap that we just shouldn't by because it makes us feel like crap.
#3 About Life
Build a life don't live it build it. Life is a lot broader then what we are told. Everything that is around us that is what we call life is something that someone who is no smarter then you has put together. So build your life, Take you opportunities and be sexy.

Growing up is not easy and having the right direction is not something that you get just handed to you. Also the world is a changing place and those of us who are willing to change it usually fight to make our place in it.

So Twitter....

So I would consider myself pretty computer savvy. I'm not really new to blogging my blog here is just newer. I've trended with myspace, I've had my facebook for ages, I've had my google plus account as long as google plus has been out, I did instagram for a while and I've had my twitter account for over a year. You get my point that social media is not really new to me.

But I realized today I really don't know how to use twitter. And worst of all I was looking at twitter today and was wondering what is the point of twitter? So I've decided to start a twitter learning experience. The good thing is that twitter provides you with a help page in it's help center called
Twitter 101

So even though I feel like twitter is another dimension all in it's self I did figure out how to customize my twitter today. I'd say that's some progress at least. Check out the cool changes I've put on my twitter. I don't think I've found my twitter "voice" yet but I do love following interesting people on  twitter so drop me a line if you'd like me to follow your twitter.

As always live long prosper and carry on with it.

Viggle

So I am back from my viggle break. Now for those of you who do not know what viggling is let me give you a simple break down.

Viggle is an app that you can download for free from the android or iTunes market for Free. What the app does... You earn points for watching TV. To be more specific you earn points for each minute you are checked in to a show.

What Viggling get's you... with the points you earn from your check-ins you can go to the Rewards section and redeem your points for prizes.

What kind of prizes can you redeem? You can find things like gift cards, products, discounts or you can give to charities just to name a few. It's really up to what's available in the shop but if you find something that you would like then it's worth viggling to get it.

Why I viggle... I started viggling because of a commercial about the app and it intrigued me so I figured for a free download there was bound to be something that would make the app worth it. And I found my diamond in the rough product to work toward and set my goal.

So what is my goal... My goal is a 4,000,000pt Royal Caribbean Cruise for Oceanview state room,  4 to 5 nights cruise to the Caribbean, Europe or Bermuda.

I plan on taking my military fiance on the cruise with me. We have a 4 year old and because of his occupation we don't get a lot of alone time to just do something fun together. And with this last year being so crazy, he went on deployment in April 2013 and the kiddo and I are back in our hometown where all our family is till mid-October. Then this spring my grandparents on my mom's side who I was close to passes away so it's been kinda a tough year. I figured planning a vacation that I could earn from an app like viggle would be a good way to keep focused on something and give me something to look forward to.

My plan for success:
I love going into things with a game plan. Yes, that makes me an A-type personality and sometimes I'm that crazy, slightly stressed out, frazzled lady who stands there and rolls her eyes and you can see visibly counting down from 10 because things are not going according to plan.
But when plans go accordingly you know you have success on your hands so I don't think I would trade my planning personality for the world.

Step 1: I did some research about viggle to see who else was viggling and find suggestions about the using the app and of course I read the rules and how to use the app.

- What I've learned from my research; Minutes Limit 720minutes or 12hrs are the max check-in minutes for the day. Not including bonus points for checking into shows with bonus check in points.
-To earn bonus check in points you have to be checked into a show for at least 10minutes or you only get points per minutes watched.

Step 2: Get a game plan.

- I start off by finding hour shows that reoccur daily and then putting them into my google calendar so that I get notifications on when they start. I like REMINDERS!!!!
- I go to viggle or viggle boy to see what are the bonus shows for the day.

Step 3: Multi-tasking is important. If you can multi-task and earn points then this is a great app to use for you.

- You can have 3 accounts per house hold. This allows you to maximize your points with using each device to check into the same show.
- Having more then one device also helps out with Trivia because if you don't know the answer to Viggle Live Trivia then you can guess and with 3 devices you are guarantied to get one answer right.

Step 4: Keeping an eye out for extra earning opportunities.

- Finding and Checking into Quest Viggle's Blog list the current and past quest and the rules.
- What's On section in the app also list the day's bonus points shows and you can set reminders
- Tapping on the shows in the What's On section can also pull up ads that are worth points. These ads seem to be most prominent at the beginning of the day.
