Review Elysium: Coming to Theater August 9th, 2013

Elysium:
Release Date:  August 9, 2013
Genres: Sci-Fi, Action

Yes, It's another Matt Damon action movie. This story on the other hand focuses on Matt Damon saving the world from rich people. Okay on a serious note this movie does look good it looks like it's got a some good bits of humor in it too. Yes I feel slightly like this movie has been made before but NOT with Mat Damon in it! Anyway I'm still as sucker for post-apocolypic/ the down fall of society type stories so I will be seeing this movie.

Waylon's Corner: How To Get More Hours At Work.

(Waylon's New Car Payment)

So, if things change in your life like a new car payment, mortgage, rent raised, day care expense, ext.  Now your life requires more money to go to expenses? We all have these situations where circumstances change and our expenses go up but our income has not changed. How many of us reasonably sit down and think about making more money at the jobs we currently have?

Advice:
Waylon's advice is first try to sit down with your employer and informing them in your change in you life. A lot of times they will help you work something out if they have the ability to and your boss will more then likely have respect for the fact that you are responsible enough to plan this change through.

In the words of Waylon, "I am the "New Proud Owner" of a car payment."

Go forth and prosper everyone! And remember sometimes you can find solutions to problems if you just ask around you or inform people of your situation.

(Gryphon taking pictures @ Harbor Fest)

Okay, so again I am apologizing for this post being late. It has been a busy week end, I took on more projects this weekend then I expected and I also decided to have some fun with my family this weekend at the Harbor Day Fest in Elk Rapids. Harbor Day was a blast! The only downside was they cancelled the fireworks which means that I have missed all of the fireworks so far this year. :(

An Art Review: Deila Maharanie

I never thought I would find a modern day painter that I would like as much as I do my favorite classics. But I have!!! Deila Maharanie I found through Art.com and this quickly became one of my new favorite paintings.

I find something oddly relatable about her paintings to my own work but I truly enjoy her use of bright colors and whimsical/mystical and even sic-fi themes in here work. I also find something a bit calming about her work despite the fact that they are filled with bright colors and patterns.

Anyway give her work a look over and if you like it you should follow her blog I provided the link above. Or if your in a really whimsically impulsive mood the buy one of her pieces like The Queen which is my featured and new favorite piece.

Review Percy Jackson Sea of Monsters : Coming to Theater August 7th, 2013

Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters
Release Date: August 7, 2013
Genres: Adventure, Mythology, Family

Loved the first Percy Jackson movie and this second one looks just as good. Sea of Monsters continues the story of the half blood olympian children but in this story they have to stop the Titan Cronos from being released. So the trio from last movie plus a new friend we get to meet making it a quartet of half blood travel to the Sea of Monsters. This movie has the same great action, adventure and humor as the first movie and looks to be just as well written and acted. I'm gonna say this is a most see and probably buy too.

Review We're The Millers: Coming to Theaters August 7th, 2013

We're The Millers:
Release Date: August 7, 2013
Genres:  Comedy

I am so glad this movie is coming out and I get to review it. I am so looking forward to this movie! It just looks funny. Maybe slightly inappropriate at moments but hilarious non the less. I love the scene where Kenny is sing TLC Waterfalls.  Honestly, I don't really know where the idea for creating a fake family that is smuggling drugs across the boarder came from to make a movie, but it looks like they made it in to a great comedy film.

What's wrong with the job world... a mom's perspective

We've all had that experience when we see this application of, "Oh this again." The job market these day boggles me a bit, I'm not going to lie. Well this post is all about those things that we read when looking for a job... The Job Descriptions. Sometime when you read them all you can say to yourself is, "Seriously, I'm just trying to find a job." I'm going to share with you somethings I've realized something over the last couple of months as I have applied for jobs.

Reasons why people may not want to apply for a position example

A) Working requires "high energy, commitment and a competitive spirit." Seriously, who get's up in the morning and says, "I want to do this every morning!!!" No one. Unrealistic expectations from companies does not make a good work environment. Just saying.

B) "You'll work in a fast-paced environment filled with challenges and opportunities." I do this every day with my kiddo that does not mean I put on my application, "I am used to multi-tasking, running around and accomplishing 50 different things at once, along with dealing with a demanding and moody boss." So fast-paced and filled with challenges and opportunities is SO what I want to do every day at a job!!! No, no it is not. I go to a job to get away from my kiddo and the craziness of multi-tasking and balancing and running around. Why can't they label it a fun, friendly mostly relaxing environment that allows you the time require to accomplish a task successfully? Seriously, I'd jump on that job.

C) "You will be responsible for providing exceptional service to our customers." So what they are basically saying is that for $8 per/hour you have to deal with people being assholes to you. Dude, even hookers get paid better then this and that's their job title too.

D) Why is it that you have to create accounts to put in an application? Seriously, I don't need to manage 50,000 different accounts or unnecessary emails filling up my email. Because if you didn't know once you fill out an app for one job with one company or website they put you on there mailing list and you then get lots of email you may have not wanted filling up your inbox.

E) "Provides customer engagement in positive and approachable manner." So you may not be a street walker, but you will be an aisle walker. Either way at the end of the day you'll go home with sore feet, a backache and a headache. And in a few months you'll probably go home with a "my job sucks" attitude. So my question is why don't they put this on their job descriptions? I mean they are in the business of sales so why aren't they selling me a job?
