And as of right now we are a one-income family living in a very expensive two-income world. Currently this summer, Gryphon, that's my four year-old, and I are in Traverse City, MI so I am hunting down fun things to do that are Free or Inexpensive.

In The Traverse City Area:
Traverse City State Theater has a lot of really cool things to go attend through out the year, but the summer is definitely it's prime time. They have kids movies for 25cents through out the week, they offer discounts or free movies for students and during the summer they have the Film Fest!
Kids Day at the Library:
Blair Elementary School Storytime For Kids: This summer The Traverse Area District Library is bring it Storytime Serves to Blair Elementary. They will be having a variety of activities along with their story time to reach grade levels pre-k through firth-grade interest. Storytime and Crafts begins at 9am for preschoolers. -Event is Free

TADL Events:
During the summer The Traverse Area District Library holds a bunch of events for all ages. They have events through out the year too, but the summer is their prime time for things to do. Visit their Website for free events like the family movie or book club and coffee for teens along with adult book clubs and groups.
In Lemoore Area:
I love that Lemoore is a family oriented community it makes living there so much fun and pretty easy to get used to. Every Tuesday night at 5pm during the summer till October 8th downtown Lemoore has a pretty awesome Farmers Market. The also hold a summer concert series which runs every Friday night at 6pm and goes to August 23rd. Sunday's all summer the Sarah A. Mooney Memorial Museum will be open to the public from noon to 3pm. Now I haven't been but it does look to be interesting so I'd go check it out.
Storytime At The Hanford Library:
The Hanford Library has two story time days, which personally I think is awesome! Mainly because one's time is at 3pm which is the most likely time for a mom who has a busy/working schedule to get there and the other is at 10am, you know for the rest of us stay at home moms... lol. The children's room here is pretty neat and the staff is pretty much friendly so that makes going to story time a fun event for mom's with storytime interested children. And A/C, books and free says pretty awesome to me.
Fresno Chaffee Zoo:
The Chaffee Zoo has a bunch of events in the summer and it's a zoo so it's always cool to kids. But the best part is that first Wednesday of the month is Wells Fargo Wednesday . This means that kids 2-11 years old get free admission and this advent runs all year which is even more cool.
